The President met with a delegation of members of parliament from Ukraine who are on a short visit to Iceland. They form a special "friendship group" with Iceland in the Ukrainian parliament.
The President discussed the situation in Ukraine, as February will mark four years since Russia invaded the country. Among the topics raised was the large group of Ukrainian children who have been abducted by Russia, and the serious condition of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure after prolonged drone attacks.
The members of parliament expressed their gratitude to the Icelandic people for welcoming refugees from Ukraine and said they also placed great hopes in cooperation between the countries regarding renewable energy sources, especially in the field of geothermal energy.
