Halla Tómasdóttir swears an oath of honor to the constitution and is inaugurated as President of Iceland at a formal ceremony at Alþingi. The inauguration began with a religious service in the Dómkirkjan, and after it concluded, the procession moved to the ceremony in Alþingi. There, the chair of the National Electoral Commission, Kristín Edwald, formally announced the presidential election result before the oath of honor was taken. After that, the president stepped out onto the balcony of the Parliament House and paid tribute to the homeland. The public was invited to Austurvöllur to follow the ceremony and celebrate the new president. For the first time, screens were set up there so those present could follow the ceremony, which was also broadcast live on RÚV and can be viewed here.
