The President awarded Mr Ferenc Utassy the Knight’s Cross of the Order of the Falcon at Bessastaðir in recognition of his outstanding contributions to Icelandic interests and his efforts to strengthen and promote relations between Iceland and Hungary.
Mr Utassy served as Iceland’s Honorary Consul in Hungary for the past fourteen years. Having lived in eastern Iceland for nearly a decade towards the end of the twentieth century, he made a lasting contribution to the cultural life of the region as a music teacher, choir conductor, and highly respected organist. Through his professional and personal commitment, he has played an important role in fostering enduring ties between Iceland and Hungary.
