The presidential couple welcomed guests of the Iceland Noir storytelling festival at Bessastaðir. The festival, which took place from the 12th to the 15th of November, was first held in 2013 and has been held most years since. It was originally organized as an international crime fiction festival, but in recent years the group of artists appearing there has broadened. Among the well-known guests this time were Siri Hustvedt, George R.R. Martin and Hwang Dong-Hyuk. Icelandic authors at the festival included Eliza Reid and Hildur Knútsdóttir. The organizers of Iceland Noir are Ragnar Jónasson and Yrsa Sigurðardóttir.
