Snorri Plus
20. ágúst 2024
The President of Iceland welcomes descendants of Icelandic immigrants.

The President receives a group of people from Canada and the United States who can trace their ancestry to Iceland. The group is in the country under the banner of the Snorri Plus Program, which aims to strengthen ties between Icelanders and the descendants of Icelandic immigrants in North America. The Snorri Plus group is for people over thirty, giving them an opportunity to learn about the history of the country and its people and to travel around the home regions of their foremothers and forefathers.
The first Snorri group came to the country in the summer of 1999, and a visit to the presidential residence at Bessastaðir has been a fixed part of the project’s 25-year history.
