State visit to China

The President of Iceland visits Beijing and Shanghai.

The President of Iceland go on a State visit to China from 12–17 October 2025 at the invitation of Xi Jinping, President of China. Accompanying her are Þorbjörg S. Gunnlaugsdóttir, Minister of Justice and Equality, Steinunn Valdís Óskarsdóttir, Director General in the ministry, Sif Gunnarsdóttir, Secretary to the President, and Þórdís Valsdóttir, Information Officer in the ministry. The purpose of the trip is to reaffirm the good bilateral relations between the two states, discuss continued trade and relations between the nations, and cooperation in the fields of geothermal energy, gender equality, and sustainable development.
