The President of Iceland, Halla Tómasdóttir, and her husband, Björn Skúlason, travelled to Denmark for a state visit from the 8th to the 10th of October 2024. Minister of Foreign Affairs Þórdís Kolbrún Reykfjörð Gylfadóttir accompanied them along with an official delegation.
It is customary for the first state visit of a new President in office to be to Denmark. This is also the first state visit that Denmark hosts since Frederik X became king. The aim of the visit is to strengthen the historical ties between Iceland and Denmark and to further deepen the close relationship between the two nations.
