The President attends the Wellbeing Economy Forum and Spirit of Humanity

The President took part in the Wellbeing Economy Forum 2025, which will be held in Harpa in Reykjavík on 8–9 May. The Directorate of Health organized the Wellbeing Economy Forum with domestic and international partners. The forum brings together politicians, academics, as well as representatives of companies, municipalities and various institutions. Its aim is to promote cooperation on shaping a wellbeing economy, facilitate its implementation, and deepen understanding of the concept of a wellbeing economy.
Since 2018, the Icelandic government has participated in a collaboration between several Wellbeing Economy Governments (WEGo), together with Finland, Canada, Scotland, New Zealand and Wales. The implementation of a wellbeing economy refers to assessing living standards and quality of life by looking at more factors than those captured by traditional economic indicators. These include aspects such as housing security, physical and mental health, the environment, life satisfaction, civic participation, community safety, and work–life balance.
Empathy and courage in times of change
On the second day of the Wellbeing Economy Forum, the President took part in an event held jointly with the international leadership conference Spirit of Humanity Forum. The event took place in Harpa and began with a meditation session, after which the President took part in a conversation with Sandrine Dixson, Global Ambassador for The Club of Rome and Executive Chair of Earth4All, and Dr. Jude Currivan, author, quantum physicist and founder of WholeWorld View.
A reception was held at Bessastaðir for the organizers and participants of the Wellbeing Economy Forum.
