The President of Iceland’s three-day visit to the United Kingdom concluded this afternoon. On the first day, Wednesday 19th of November, she visited the Sustainable Ventures centre on Belvedere Road in London and familiarised herself with its activities. The centre supports start-up companies working on sustainability and climate solutions. In the evening, she attended a reception at the Embassy of Iceland hosted by Ambassador Sturla Sigurjónsson.
On Thursday morning, the President took part in an event at King's College London and subsequently had a meeting with King Charles III at Buckingham Palace. Among the topics they discussed were the state of international affairs, geothermal energy, and the health of the oceans. In the afternoon, she, together with Costas Markides, Professor of Strategy and Innovation, took part in an event at London Business School.
Earlier today the President visited the 66°North store on Regent Street in London. The last item on the agenda is a visit to the restaurant Churchill's Fish & Chips in Uxbridge. The Churchill's chain has had ingredients from Icelandic fishing grounds on its menu since 1981, when the company first made an agreement with Júlíus Geirmundsson to purchase cod and haddock.
