The President of Iceland welcomes the President of Slovenia to Bessastaðir.

The President of Iceland, Ms Halla Tómasdóttir, held a bilateral meeting with the President of Slovenia, Ms Nataša Pirc Musar, in the library at Bessastaðir. They discussed relations between the two countries, developments in world affairs, and the ways in which leaders, especially women leaders can make a positive impact, both at home and on the international stage.
They also met with delegations from both countries and outlined plans for further cooperation between them. “We allowed ourselves to do something during our meeting earlier that is all too rare in international cooperation,” President Tómasdóttir said. “We allowed ourselves to dream — of the future that we wish to help create.”
The President of Slovenia echoed those words and expressed great satisfaction with their discussions. “We share much in common as people and as leaders, and we place emphasis on similar priorities in office.” She said she sees great potential in their cooperation, preferably together with more women leaders and leaders of other small countries, including on efforts to foster democratic dialogue, embrace environmental responsibility and safeguard the well-being of young people and their future.
President Nataša Pirc Musar’s visit to Iceland is organized in connection with the annual Wellbeing Economy Forum, which takes place in Reykjavík on April 16–17. At 4:00 p.m. today, the presidents will take part in a public event at Veröld — the House of Vigdís. There, they will hold a conversation entitled “The Courage to Care: Leadership in a Changing World”.
