Visit to Hornafjörður

Hornafjörður is a vibrant and growing community surrounded by magnificent nature at the foot of the Vatnajökull Glacier. The president and her spouse flew to Hornafjörður on the morning of 12 March. There, the town council welcomed them and introduced them to local life and the diverse development taking place in the area. On the second day of the visit, the presidential couple visited the rural parts of the municipality. The day began at Hoffell, from where they continued to the dairy farm Flatey at Mýrar, the Þórbergur Centre at Hali in Suðursveit, and to Jökulsárlón glacial lake. After lunch, the journey continued to Hofgarður in Öræfi, where a coffee gathering was held with the residents of Öræfasveit. Photos: EFÍ/Una Sighvatsdóttir.
