President Halla Tómasdóttir often takes part in presenting awards to individuals and groups who have distinguished themselves in Icelandic public life. In certain cases these awards are directly connected to the presidency. Among them is the Order of the Falcon, the highest decoration conferred by the Icelandic state, of which the President is the Grand Master.
